What is a fish?

Fishes are aquatic vertebrates; most fishes have paired fins, scales, & gills.

Fins are used for movement, scales for protection, & gills for exchanging gases. 

Fishes are so varied, however, there are exceptions.

Some fish such as catfish, do not have scales.
